Name
: Wong Yat Wah
English Name : Felix
DOB : 9-4-1961
Height : 5' 11"
Family : Parents, 2 older sisters, wife Yeung Kit Wah
(former actress) and a daughter
Debut : 1980 methinks
Known as : One of the 80's 5 Tigers, my most beloved
tiger =)
Jimmy and Eddie Kwan are the ones that come across as friendly
and very dear to me. But it is Felix that I idolize the most
among all the HK actors out there. And I don't expect that to
change anytime soon. He is simply irreplaceable.
Even these days, I can still go to my video store and rent
a series solely based on the fact that Felix was in it. He has
the kind of on-screen presence that can only be emulated by
a select few. I don't hesitate to believe that he excels in
every role he plays, whether it be a hero, a villain, a dumbass,
an average joe, a cop, a career man, et cetera et cetera.
I am proud to say that I've seen most of his major ancient
works. This is a big deal since Korean distribution of HK series
are quite scarce. Although he is best known for his heroic (and
often tragic) roles, I must say that the series I've enjoyed
him the most in were the ones where he played antagonists. They
are the ones from the 80's. Yes evil Felix, how I love thee.
=P
*As of 2004, Felix expressed desire to stop starring in long
TV series. He will still consider other aspects of showbiz such
as movies, MC, commentating sports, etc. I will truly miss him
in his TV series.
Felix's Most Famous Role : Kwok Jing from [ Legend of
the Condor Heroes ]. People will always remember him in this
role, not to say that Kwok Jing overshadows the other great
roles he played.
Jin Yong Character Portrayals : Hui Jook in [ DGSD II
], Kwok Jing in [ LOCH 83 ], Yuen Sing Chi in [ Sword... Royal
Blood ], Kiu Fung in [ DGSD 96 ], Wu Yat Do in [ FFOSM 99 ].
Besides Kenneth Tsang Kong who played the most # of JY's significant
roles, wouldn't it be appropriate to name Felix as "Mr.
Jin Yong" perhaps?
Felix for the 1st time : [ The Young Wanderer ], as
a mad funny pursuer of Carina Lau.
Favorite Felix : Wu Yat Do in [ The Flying Fox of the
Snowy Mountain 1999 ]. Although his appearance was short, I
think many people would agree that the first 10 episodes with
Felix & Maggie Siu were the most memorable part of the entire
series.
Disliked Felix : Yuen Sing Chi in [ Sword Stained W/
Royal Blood ]. Was he not supposed to end up with Ha Ching Ching
(played by Patricia Chong) in the novel? In this series, he
didn't! His character was made to look like a complete imbecile
who chose an utterly useless girl, Ah 9 (Teresa Mo) over Ching
Ching who helped him so much. Hate stupid guys like that.
Favorite Felix Series : [ Twilight of a Nation ]. It
is actually my favorite series of all time. Felix performed
one of his rare villain roles here. But even as a baddie, there
was some sort of a heroic statue about his character, which
I liked.
Disliked Felix Series : [ The Foundation ]. So the guy
concentrates only on his kung fu. So the girl feels neglected
and leaves him for a better guy. So the better guy kills the
girl for his throne. So the guy wants revenge. Uh-huh uh-huh.
Favorite Felix Pair : Felix & Jamie Chic in [ Heaven's
Retribution ]. Felix - the modern Petruchio. Jamie - the modern
Katarina. Together they made a handsome but heart-achingly tragic
couple.
Disliked Felix Pair : Felix & Kenix Kwok in [ The
Criminal Investigator I ]. BAHHHH. I wanted to see him pair
up with Bondy Chiu, which couldn't be possible because she was
his sister. =_= Sunny Chan was cute w/ Bondy though. =P
Favorite Jin Yong Character Portrayal : Kiu Fung in
[ Demi-Gods & Semi-Devils 1996 ]. It could've been Wu Yat
Do from FFOSM but since he died early in the series, I didn't
count that one.
Unseen Felix series that I would die to see : [ General
Father, General Son ], [ Ying Hung Chut Siu Nin ]
