The story starts out with Bowie who is a cop, always on the
case of his wife's death from five years ago. His wife appears only
in flashbacks, played by Wallis. Eddie and Marianne
are siblings and Bowie's neighbors (upstairs). Eddie and Bowie have
been best friends since grade school, and Eddie is working as a
bodyguard at a security place. Marianne teaches martial arts. Eddie
and his wife separated recently; she was an absolute bitch. Eddie
is obsessed with her, and does whatever he can to get her back,
but it doesn't work.
Florence and Steven are the children of a wealthy
hotel owner, Kenneth. In the beginning, Steven gets kidnapped
by Dai Chi Wai (main bad guy). Bowie was able to rescue
him, and they get on bad terms because Steven was a sissy prick.
Bowie thinks that the whole world is involved with killing his
wife, and believes that the group that kidnapped Steven had something
to do with it. He somehow gets into trouble one night beating
the shit out of a released prisoner, who was supposedly guilty
of kiling his wife. And then he lost his job. So he very reluctantly
went to work for Eddie's company, and coincidentally got Eddie
a job with Kenneth, who was looking for bodyguards for his entire
family.
Bowie and Angie met while Bowie was trying to save Steven.
She was the girlfriend of Liu Kai Chi. And because Bowie
wants to find info about his wife, he tries to get to know Angie.
But they don't get along, she's always pestering him and he's
really pushy with her. And they bitch each other out. Angie is
in a lot of debt and ends up living on a balcony sunhouse in Bowie/Eddie/Marianne's
complex. She and Marianne become friends.
Marianne somehow loses her job and ends up working for the same
company as Bowie and Eddie. They all become bodyguards for Kenneth's
family. Eddie goes with Florence, Bowie goes with Steven, and
they are always fighting with each other. Eventually that tones
down a little bit and they slowly become friends. Steven becomes
less of a prick. He falls in love Elaine, a family friend
who comes to live with Steven's family, but she already has a
boyfriend. So he's sad, but everyone was there to cheer him on,
so he gets over her.
In the meantime, Eddie and Florence go out, but their personalities
are very different, and Eddie doesn't really trust her. She is
rather social (flirtatious in other words). They fight, and Florence
can't stand people who don't trust her, so they break up, and
Eddie's heart is crushed.
Marianne is madly in love with Bowie. It's very obvious but Bowie
has no clue. He and Angie on the other hand get along pretty well
now. Angie has a son from her previous boyfriend, and they get
along like a family. Although Bowie and Angie still argue, it's
fun talk.
When Marianne tells Bowie that she likes him, at first, he is
like "whatever." Then he goes "Are you serious?"
then tries to talk her out of liking him. So she's upset and thinks
that he likes Angie, but he says he doesn't. Then she goes to
Steven crying. They are all good friends by now, and Steven started
to like her. But his dad doesn't really approve, and he fires
Marianne.
Steven gets pissed and tries to argue that she's doing her job
fine. He eventually runs away from home and stays with Bowie.
Steven wasn't very good at running the hotel busniess, and his
father was always getting on his case about it, so he was fed
up anyway. He liked graphics design, so he got into commercial
design. It took him a little bit, but he was doing pretty well,
and he and Marianne get along fine. But he ended up going back
home and started working hard for his father.
One day, Angie oversaw Eddie talking with her boyfriend when
he returned from his "exile" -- and she found out that
Eddie had a lot to do with Bowie's wife's death. She told Bowie,
but of course he didn't believe her, until some things happened
and he became suspicious later. Near the end it was confirmed
that Eddie killed Wallis. He needed money to please his wife so
he made a deal with Dai Chi Wai and Liu Kai Chi's gang. The gang
said they'd give him money if he stole some info from his company.
So while Eddie was stealing, Wallis saw him (she happened to work
here as well). He begged her not to tell anyone, but she was one
of those righteous people. It was by accident that they were in
the stairwell and struggling, and Wallis fell out the window.
This was on her and Bowie's anniversary.
Bowie found out the truth, so he and Eddie were engaged in a
physical fighting, but later came to the conclusion that Eddie
will turn himself in. But Eddie didn't do so - he ran off with
Dai Chi Wai and became a crook. They kidnapped Kenneth and Florence
and wanted a huge ransom. But Eddie ended up shooting Dai Chi
Wai because he had wanted to kill Florence and Eddie didn't want
that.
Then Steven arrived with the ransom money and Marianne followed
him. After the exchange, one of Eddie's gang members tried to
shoot Eddie so he can take all the money, but Marianne took the
bullet for her brother. Eddie killed the guy and asked Steven
to take care of Marianne and left with Liu Kai Chi.
Later on, Bowie found out that Angie would see Liu Kai Chi one
more time before he fled the country with Eddie. He followed her
and met up with Eddie. Eddie tried to shoot Bowie but Angie stepped
in front of him, but in the neck of time, Liu Kai Chi stepped
in front of her and got shot instead. When Eddie tried to shoot
Bowie for the 2nd time, Liu shot Eddie. Injured Eddie said to
Bowie that he was sorry for what he did.
After the trial and everything (Steven and Marianne got married),
Bowie visited Eddie in jail. Eddie asked Bowie if he could forgive
him, and Bowie replied that past is past and he forgot everything
already. After all, they have been best friends since the grade
school.
Angie and Bowie didn't end up together because Angie decided
to wait for Liu Kai Chi to come out of jail.
