The less maddening version of 'The War Heroes' ending

Refer to The War Heroes Review for more details on this series.

Damn here I go again - basically, this is a typical yet skewed Romeo & Juliet story, with Romeo being Roger and Juliet being Kitty Lai. They were in a position where they couldn't be together but like that ever stopped them. Sheren Tang is a poor little friend of Roger from his childhood who loves him but can't be loved. And Jimmy... urr... is some power-crazed maniac that was mad at the whole world because his abilities were never acknowledged. I swear though, he was the sweetest thing in the beginning.. it's Roger & Kitty that made him bad! Tse Ling is the female version of Jimmy in this series, as she too is power hungry. Likewise, they get married not because they love each other but... Anyway! So in the end, everyone is out to kill Jimmy and sadly (for me & Trinh anyhow), he dies. Here is the parody version of that screwed up ending that was never supposed to be.

The ideal ending as we see it-

I thought the ending of the War Heroes really cheesy (Kitty and Roger sailing off together). I was hoping that they don't end up together or they would just both die (seriously). Jimmy's tragic ending sucked. There should be a series the bad guy should win! I like your suggestion that Roger and Sheren should be a couple and Kitty and Jimmy be together. The plot where two best friends fight over the same girl and one turns bad is so old. I like friendships that last till the very end. That's why Ying Hung Chut Siu Nin was so good.

You know what would have been a good plot line for the War Heroes? When Kitty pretended to like Jimmy she would gradually fall for him for real because she was touched by how sweetly he treated her. I would throw out that stupid rape scene. When Roger and Jimmy were in battle together at the end and as Roger was about to kill Jimmy, Kitty stepped in and stopped him. She would say 'if you want to kill him, kill me first'. Roger ask her 'do you truly love him' and she said 'yes'. Jimmy was so touched by her actions and forfeited his goal to obtain status and power and settle down with her. Roger was touched but also devastated by their love. He left and went back to the place where he grew up...blah blah...and eventually he gets together with Sheren. The two couple will meet 5 or so years down the track, both with a son. The reminisce on the old days and their sons become blood brothers. THE END!

How do you like that? Gosh, I almost convinced myself that was the ending. I think that is closer to human nature and it's not 'good guy beats bad guy'. Jimmy's character would be more complete this way and Roger wouldn't always get what he wanted and Kitty wouldn't be so annoying (or be seen as the tramp who comes between 2 brothers).

This is Clair now... I seriously need to get over this traumatic ending and move on. But some things in life are so fun to obsess about!
